Australia, city by city

BBW Australia: No-Strings Meets From Perth to Sydney

BBW, big men and the people who fancy them, one to one and no strings, with the trains and clocks of four capitals worked out.

Same site, four capitals

What changes from one capital to the next?

Not what you're after. A no-strings meet between BBW, big men and their admirers works the same way in Perth as in Sydney, and Fat F-Buddy is built for exactly that. What changes is the clock, the ride home and the clinic.

Perth sits two hours behind Brisbane all year and three behind Sydney and Melbourne in their daylight saving. Sydney runs some buses 24 hours a day; Brisbane and Melbourne keep all-night services for weekends. And each state runs its own public sexual health clinics.

Most Australians live in a capital city, and these four are the biggest, from Greater Sydney down to Greater Perth.

Fat F-Buddy works in your phone's browser and, pinned to your home screen, opens like an app. Other members see the town or city nearest you, not your street. The features page lists every tool, and the places page holds every guide.

Chatting across states? Put the city next to the time

Australia keeps three standard time zones: Western (UTC+8), Central (UTC+9:30) and Eastern (UTC+10). Daylight saving then splits the four cities here into two pairs, which is how “see you at eight” leaves one of you waiting an hour.

Perth
UTC+8 all year, with no daylight saving.
Brisbane
UTC+10 all year: Queensland doesn't use daylight saving either, so Brisbane stays two hours ahead of Perth.
Sydney
UTC+10, then UTC+11 in daylight saving: three hours ahead of Perth and one ahead of Brisbane.
Melbourne
On Sydney's clock all year, so level with Brisbane again once daylight saving ends.

So write the city with the time: “Thursday, 7pm Perth time”. Heading east for work? VIP search filters by city and distance, so you can look at Melbourne before you fly.

Getting tested: the rules change at the state border

There's no national sexual health clinic. Each state and territory runs its own, so who can attend, whether you need a Medicare card and what you pay change from city to city.

  • Brisbane: the public Brisbane Sexual Health Service needs an appointment, but says no Medicare card is required and the visit, tests and treatment cost nothing.
  • Perth: WA Health lets people up to 35 with no symptoms request chlamydia and gonorrhoea tests online, with no appointment and no Medicare card.

Nationally, healthdirect's advice on STI screening, reviewed in December 2024, is to ask your doctor how often to test and to consider a test with any new partner.

Each city guide names where to get tested locally. A GP or sexual health clinic can say which tests you need, and the safer casual sex guide covers condoms.

Backup that works in every state

  • 000

Triple Zero, the emergency number for police, fire or an ambulance. If you feel in danger, call it first and explain later.

  • 1800RESPECT

National counselling, information and support on sexual, domestic and family violence, stalking and harassment, funded by the Australian Government. It costs nothing and answers around the clock, every day, by phone, text, chat or video call.

  • Lifeline

A national charity offering crisis support and suicide prevention to anyone in Australia in emotional distress, by phone, text or online chat.

  • eSafety Commissioner

The independent government agency that regulates online safety. The Online Safety Act 2021 puts image-based abuse in its remit: intimate images shared, or threatened to be shared, without consent.

Keep it on Fat F-Buddy until you meet

A scammer's tells show early: a push to leave the site for private messages, a reason they can never meet, small money requests that grow, and urgency. Fat F-Buddy warns you when someone tries to move a chat onto another app, which is one more reason to keep the getting-to-know-you part here.

If money ever does move, this is the order that helps:

  1. Your bank, straight away

The Australian Federal Police puts this call first in its January 2025 advice with the National Anti-Scam Centre.

  2. Police, through ReportCyber

The national portal, run by the Australian Cyber Security Centre, for online fraud, identity theft and dating scams.

  3. Scamwatch, to warn others

The public place to report a scam, which the AFP says helps protect others. The National Anti-Scam Centre, inside the ACCC since July 2023, runs short taskforces on particular scam types.

  4. Screenshots, then block

Capture the chat and the profile first, then block and report the profile where you met.

The fake-profile guide has the full checklist; the safety page covers blocking and reporting.

Pick your capital, then pick your spot

  • Perth

Northbridge is a five-minute walk from the city centre, and Transperth's one ferry crosses from Elizabeth Quay to South Perth, a handy second act. BBW Perth plans the day and the night.

  • Brisbane

South Bank's parklands open every day from 5am to midnight, with train, busway and CityCat stops close by. More in our guide to planning a meet in Brisbane.

  • Melbourne

Inside the central city and Docklands, trams need no myki card, and Night Network keeps trains and trams running all night at weekends. BBW Melbourne has the full plan.

  • Sydney

The Royal Botanic Garden opens at 7am and stays open until sunset, which is 7:30pm in October. Our guide to casual meets in Sydney has the rest.

Your Australia questions, straight up

What time is it in Perth when it's 8pm in Sydney?

5pm while Sydney is on daylight saving, because Perth stays on UTC+8 all year and Sydney moves to UTC+11. Outside daylight saving the gap is two hours, so 8pm in Sydney is 6pm in Perth. Brisbane never moves its clocks either, so it runs an hour behind Sydney in daylight saving.

Do I need ID to meet someone for a drink?

Bring it. Youth Law Australia, a community legal centre, said in 2024 that New South Wales venue staff can ask anyone who looks under 25 for ID, and that in Western Australia someone without ID can be refused entry or a sale. Fat F-Buddy itself is for adults, 18 and over.

What can I do if someone shares my intimate photos?

Australia's eSafety Commissioner handles image-based abuse under the Online Safety Act 2021, threats to share included. If it happens through Fat F-Buddy, report the profile and use the takedown policy to ask for the content to come down. For advice on your own case, ask a lawyer.

Do I need a Medicare card for an STI test?

Not always, because each state runs its own services. Brisbane Sexual Health Service says it needs no card and charges nothing, and WA Health's online test route needs none. healthdirect adds that with a card, lab tests are often bulk billed, though the doctor may charge.
