Consent comes first

How to Ask a BBW to Be Your Fuck Buddy

Plain words, kind timing and message wording you can borrow, plus how to take a no like an adult.

The short answer

Ask once, plainly, after a few days of real conversation and a short video call. Say you want a casual, no-strings fuck buddy arrangement, describe what that looks like and make it easy to refuse. Only a clear yes counts. Silence or a maybe means not yet, and a no closes the question.

Make the no easy and the yes will mean something.

How to ask without making it awkward

Asking a BBW to be your fuck buddy is the same job as asking anyone: you are putting an offer to an adult who can say no. The wording matters less than people think. Timing, honesty and what you do with the answer decide how it lands.

Consent runs through all of it: a clear yes, freely given, that either of you can take back at any point, from your first message (which they can ignore) to the evening you plan. A hookup site tells you what the place is for, not what this person wants from you this month.

Do

  • Say what you are after, early and lightly.
  • Compliment something they wrote, chose or said.
  • Ask what they want, not only what you want.
  • Treat a video call or a public first meet as sense, never suspicion.
  • Thank them for a clear answer, yes or no.

Skip

  • Opening with size, a label or the ask itself.
  • Backhanded compliments, including “brave”.
  • Advice about their body that nobody requested.
  • Deciding for them what your attraction means.
  • Pressure, or a second ask after a no.

Your profile can do some of the asking before anyone writes: the BBW hookup profile tips show how to say what you want in one honest line.

What to say, and when to say it

Five stops, in order. Rush one and the ask lands before either of you knows enough to answer it.

  1. First message

Open with them, not with the ask

Read the profile and pick one detail you can really answer: a hobby, a joke, a strong opinion. Ask one question that takes a line to reply to. Classic gives you a few messages a day, so spend one on something written for this person.

Your profile says you’ve performed the same terrible karaoke song for ten years and refuse to retire it. I need the title. Mine is worse, I promise.

  2. The next few messages

    Let it become a conversation

Swap ordinary things: what a good week looks like, the worst app you have used, the job you would quit tomorrow. Say what you are here for in one sentence along the way. Match their pace, because a four-paragraph reply to a one-line message feels like pressure. The BBW chat page covers the ways to talk here.

That song is now stuck in my head, thanks. Quick honesty, because I’m enjoying this: I’m after something casual and low-key. What are you hoping to find on here?

  3. The video call

Put a face to the username

Suggest ten minutes on video once the messages flow. A call turns a username into a person and shows whether the banter survives out loud. Any video app you both have will do, and a link spares you handing over a number. Someone who keeps dodging the call is telling you something, and the fake profile guide explains what.

I’m having a good time here. Want to do a ten-minute video call this week? Nothing fancy, and you pick the day.

  4. The ask

Ask once, plainly, with a door left open

A day or two after the call, put it in writing instead of springing it live. Writing gives them room to think, and a no need not be delivered to a hopeful face. Cover four things in two or three sentences: what you want, how often, how private, and that no is a fine answer. Nothing clever. Clever reads as a trick.

I’ve liked every message so far, so here’s my straight question. Would you like to be my fuck buddy? Regular, private, no strings, and only if you want it too. A no is completely fine, and we’ll stay on good terms either way.

  5. The answer

    Take whatever comes back

Then stop typing: no “so?” an hour later. Only a plain yes is a yes. “Yes, if” is a yes to their terms alone, so say whether you can meet them. “Let me think” means wait for them to raise it again. Silence or a new subject means not now. A no closes the question.

What ends a conversation for good

None of this is law. It is advice from body-positive writers, several of them personal views, and plain good manners.

Opening on size or a label
Amber Sarah, writing from experience in Everyday Feminism in 2013, said openers and handles that lead with a body label make women feel wanted for nothing else. Open on something they wrote or chose.
Backhanded compliments
Healthline’s 2018 piece on body comments offers a test: would your compliment still make sense with bodies left out? Even “you’re so brave”, it adds, hides a message that a body is unusual.
Advice nobody asked for
Dawn Clifford, writing in Psychology Today in 2026, called unsolicited advice about someone’s weight inappropriate. Praise an outfit or a strength of character instead.
Assuming a fetish
Marie Southard Ospina wrote in Everyday Feminism in 2016 that attraction to bigger bodies is not always a fetish, and many who feel it never use the label. Say what you want and ask what they want.
Treating them as a secret
Amber Sarah (Everyday Feminism, 2013) urged admirers to be seen with the person and not to take caution personally. Privacy you both chose is fine. Privacy only you chose is hiding them.
Pressure and second asks
Deadlines, guilt and bargaining make a no costly, which makes a yes worthless. Asking again after a no, in new words or after a quiet week, says the first answer did not count.

After the ask

What to do with a no, and how to give one

One kind line each way, and no questions.

If you hear no

Send one line that thanks them and closes the topic. Skip “why?” and “is it me?”, and skip the reassurance that makes them manage your feelings. They owe you no reason.

Totally fine, and thanks for telling me straight. It’s been a good chat. Take care of yourself.

Keep talking only if you would enjoy the chat for its own sake, because a friendly message that is really a second attempt is a second ask in disguise. If they change their mind, they will tell you. Your matches are still there, and the guide to how to find a BBW fuck buddy covers where to look next. Our guides cover the rest. One no is not a verdict on you.

If you are the one being asked

You owe nobody a yes, a reason or a softened lie. A short, clear, kind no is the easiest to hear and the hardest to misread.

I like talking to you, but a regular arrangement isn’t for me. I’d rather say so now than string you along. Thanks for asking nicely.

If someone keeps pushing after a clear no, end the chat, block them and report anything that crosses a line. The safety page shows how, and no explanation is owed.

If it is a yes, sort the details first

A yes to the arrangement is not a yes to any particular evening. Each meet-up gets its own yes, and either of you can change your mind on the day, even at the door. Settle four things before you plan the first meet.

  • How often. Name a rhythm you can both keep, like every other Thursday. “Whenever” sounds relaxed and works out as one person waiting to be asked.
  • How private. Agree who may know and what stays in the chat. Keep phone numbers and social handles back until you both want to swap them.
  • How to stop. Either of you can end it with one honest message and no reason given. “I’m winding this down” is a complete sentence.
  • Protection and testing. Settle both before you meet, never in the moment. The safer casual sex guide goes further.

This guide is general, not medical advice. For anything about testing or protection that is specific to you, a doctor or a sexual health clinic is the right person to ask.
